    An electromechanical relay is an electrical switch that uses an electromagnet to actuate its switching mechanism. It consists of several key parts: a coil, an armature, contacts, a spring, and a yoke. The coil, when energized, creates a magnetic field that attracts the armature. The armature is typically connected to the contacts, and when the magnetic force moves the armature, it either opens or closes the contacts, thereby controlling the flow of electricity in the circuit.
    The electromagnet in the relay provides the force required to move the armature, which in turn either opens or closes the contacts. In most relays, the armature is spring-loaded to return to its original position when the magnetic field is removed, ensuring the contacts revert to their default state when the current is turned off.
